This accident happened in Nebbi, after a car that was carrying Amuriat’s public address overturned in the afternoon hours of the day. Aside from the two deaths, 15 people went away with injuries.
Amuriat however was not injured at all but the party says he is in shock. Due to this and also allow the party to mourn the deceased, he has posed his campaigns. This is very humanly but politically it is going to cost the party.
This is the second time Patrick Amuriat is suspending his elections. The first time was when Robert Kyagulanyi was arrested and as a way of showing solidarity, he put his campaigns on a stand still.
By the time, this accident happened, Patrick Amuriat was holding his campaigns in the west Nile to secure votes come 2021. The place where the accident happened is a known black spot and accidents normally happen there.
Frank Muzoora, the district police commander Pakwach noted that UNRA has been trying to work on the corner to reduce accidents that happen in that place but still no success.
Elections are almost here and come January 14th we shall be having the conversation on the ballot paper.
We can’t say that the FDC presidential candidate‘s decision to suspend his campaigns is a good or bad idea because his reason is valid. However we know that it is going to cost him whether he likes it or not.
