Perpetrators Of Masaka Killings Will Face Justice – Gen Muhoozi

The State Minister for Internal Affairs Gen Muhoozi David has said the ongoing acts of murder in greater Masaka is an attempt at spreading terror among the population.

Muhoozi and other security chiefs are currently in Masaka to assess the situation that is causing a lot of fear among locals in the area.

He assured citizens that they have arrested some suspects in connection with the murders. He also added that they will deal with these machete wielding thugs as soon as possible.

By press time, a total of 28 people had died and several others injured.

“A good number of them [suspects] are being processed for appearance in court so that is as far as the suspects are concerned. Their choice of method to push whatever agenda they are pushing, is not tenable because it is unpopular. You cannot choose to kill Ugandans for whatever reason,” he said.

He noted that they have deployed more security officers in these areas.

“We brought in even the technical wings, the K9 section has been reinforced. And the other technical aspects which I am not at liberty to mention here. We have brought other specialised teams. We want to go deep to understand who the perpetrators are,” Gen Muhoozi said.

Security agencies partly blame the deteriorating security situation on local leaders who don’t have details of residents.
