Nkurunziza was announced the winner with 69.41% of the vote and his rival Agathon Rwasa got 18.99%. It’s reported that Nkurunziza got 79% from his home town Ngozi and 37% in other districts.

The regime of Pierre Nkurunziza still has a challenge!

Many other voters declined to vote perhaps due to the anger they have towards the process of elections and also the ruling National Council for the Defence of Democracy ( CNDD – FDD ) party which decided to nominate president Pierre Nkurunziza to stand for re-election.
