Nyeri High Court sentenced Mukiri on Thursday after she was found guilty to a minor charge of murder. The crime was reduced from murder after appeal negotiating with prosecution.
This pregnant woman admitted that in August 2018, she killed her husband identified as Mukio Mwiti, aged 34 at their home in Muthinga Shopping Centre in Tetu.
The court confirmed that she stabbed her husband in the face and abdomen several times using a kitchen knife following a serious quarrel. The victim went back home while drunk 1am, igniting a brutal violent confrontation with his wife.
Later, she left the deceased inside the house in a pool of blood and proceeded at the Shopping Centre.
Before all that, the deceased informed the area police that he was mistreated and attacked by his wife at their home. He succumbed to stab wounds at Nyeri County Referral Hospital.
According to the report, the deceased also had history of habitual use of illegal drugs.
The legal officer also asked the court to consider the suspect’s young age of just 28 and that she is already a mother of 2 young kids aged 7 years and 10 years.
During the court ruling, magistrate Mshila said the offense committed could only be considered as miserable as a life was lost. The magistrate also said the suspect did not deserve prison terms such as fine or restriction order.
