“In the course of arresting the nine suspects, one Abdul Kateregga was injured and while he was being taken to hospital for medical attention, he bled due to injuries sustained and was pronounced dead on arrival at Mulago hospital,” the police spokesperson Emilian Kayima said in a statement
Museveni hailed CMI regarding Kirumira’s death.
The president has lifted the lid off the story on the operation revealing that the suspects are accused of being part of the group that killed former Buyende DPC Muhammad Kirumira last month.
“I am sure I am speaking on behalf of many of you when I congratulate the CMI squads which jailed up many people regarding the death of Late Kirumira on Friday night,”Museveni said in a statement.
He commented that one of the criminals jailed during this analysis was a former Democratic Forces member who had been granted amnesty by government.
“In the process, one of them, by the names of Kateregga Abdu, was shot and later died of his injuries. It turns out that Kateregga was one of the ADF terrorists that had benefited from Amnesty in the past.”
“This, therefore, is to put on notice all the killers that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23 ).”
He said that the suspects will soon appear in courts of law but urged any member of the public with information about the group to avail it to police.
It should be remembered that Muhammad Kirumira was shot dead by unknown assailants allegedly traveling on motorcycles near his home in Bulenga, along the Kampala- Mityana road on the evening of September 8.
