President Museveni Is The Only Unifying Factor In NRM – Hon David Kabanda

According to Kasambya County South MP Hon David Kabanda, the dominance and supremacy of the National Resistance Movement will  wane the day President Museveni ever stops being the party chairman.

Taking to his Twitter page, the MP said that Museveni is the only unifying factor in the party. Without him, it seems the party lacks a sense of direction and will also head for chaos.

This is not the first time the MP is exposing how the party is seated on a time bomb. He sometime ago revealed that the old guard in the NRM don’t want to pass on the mantle.

They feel threatened by the young crop of politicians. Kabanda even at one time proposed the formation of a new party known as the National Progressive Movement.

This was to promote reconciliation between disgruntled NRM members and some dissatisfied Opposition members. This would be led by Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba according to the MP.

Besides, it’s not Kabanda alone who has come out to express his dissatisfaction on the tensions in the party.

Other party members in the party have also come out to decry the way the party below the President is run.

Corruption, nepotism, tribalism, favoritism, hatred are some of the factors pointed out by some of these members. And with the history of how political parties in Africa disintegrate after their founders leave power, the NRM has to be careful.

It might follow the likes of UPC, DP which are no longer formidable parties but just a bunch of laughing stock.

President Museveni has severally revealed that the party has several potential leaders to take over from him. This is as rumors continue to mount that he has his son Muhoozi Kainerugaba in the queue to take over from him.
