President Museveni To Chair IPOD First Political Summit

President Yoweri Museveni, the Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue/ IPOD Chairman is to share the first political summit after the General elections this Friday 5th March at Kololo Airstrip in Kampala.

NRM Secretary General Justine Lumumba says issues to be handled include the role of security agencies, conduct of political party heads and the political governance of the country to broker the peace process in the country.

“Let heads of political parties attend the summit to participate in leadership and governance of the country. Political heads have all insulted each other and that’s why we need dialogue to start the process,” Lumumba explained.

She announced the development at Netherland Institute for Multiparty Democracy media engagement at Kabira Country Club.

President Yoweri Museveni also took over IPOD chair in December 2021.

IPOD’s member parties also include;

Democratic Party (DP),

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC),

Justice Forum (JEEMA),

National Unity Platform,

Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) is also among the members and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Inter-Party Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) platform is a safe space to promote important and honest discussions between political parties in Uganda.

Lumumba however also stressed that only Secretary generals and party chairpersons will attend the summit.

Furthermore, the Democratic Party  Secretary-General Gerald Sekiranda committed to attend the meeting to foster peace after the 2021  general elections.
