Sand Cranes Players Miss $300 Each Due To Inactive Bank Accounts

A few Sand Cranes players are very disappointed after missing out on the $300 (over Shs 1 million) which was paid to them as bonus by Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) last week.

Just like FUFA did to KCCA and Cranes stars by clearing their bonus pledges, they also decided to extend their support towards the 20-man delegation that traveled to Tanzania’s capital Dar-es Salaam in December last year for the annual Copa Dar es Salaam Beach Soccer 2019.

According to national teams deputy manager Mr Mukatabala Paul, he revealed yesterday that he handed in the requisition for all the sand cranes players to receive $300 (over 1 million), but he was very shocked to see that some of the money bounced back due to their bank accounts being inactive.

I urged to all those affected to go to their respective banks to activate their accounts immediately, ‘he added.

The Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) boss Mr Mutabazi Deo said it was such a huge surprise from FUFA  because they didn’t expect it at this pandemic crisis.

Apart from the ones we have just bailed out, we are also planning to support the stranded club players who are in unpleasant condition. We have a great plan as an association to assist league players but the pandemic lockdown has restricted us,’he added.

Uganda team finished 2nd and won a silver medal.
