Schools are set to open this week on the 15th of October as the president directed. There is so much at hand and obviously students need to be prepared for this especially psychologically. The very first people that need to talk to these students are the parents themselves.
The truth of the matter is there is a lot to put together especially for the young students in primary and secondary.
Schools have been closed since March and some learners had actually given up on school. Now that schools are opening again, students need to feel the importance of education. This is because some of the learners started thinking they can actually do without school.
This happened especially on those who started working and are now earning some little money that has blinded them.
Parents need to sit down with their children and listen to their fears so that they find ways of helping them. Unlike the usual way of going to school, thus time round its going to be very different. The social distance, the masks, literally every one has to fear the other party.
They need to be educated about Covid but also be reminded that this is not the end of the world.
Basically, all parents need to do, is to assure their children that they can win through this temporary situation. It’s not the end.
Weirdly, some learners may need to be told the importance of going to school again because most of them had lost the vision. This will help learners go to school with a resilient mind rather than a timid mindset.
