Pastor Samuel Mudambi M’mbo died on Sunday, 16th October. This was shortly after addressing the congregation in a lively church service. The clergyman relinquished his position following his battle with diabetes, a condition that saw his leg amputated.
His son Mudambi Musalia said they diagnosed his father with diabetes in 2018. They later amputated his leg in the same year. The pastor had served at the local church for 34 years.
“Mzee has been serving as a local pastor for close to 34 years, and following his health issues, he decided to hand over the church roles at least to concentrate on his illness, unfortunately on Sunday he passed on while in church, not even the first aid could bring him back to life,” said Musalia.
Earlier before his sudden death
Mudambi went to bid farewell to his congregants a farewell on Sunday 10th January using a boda boda. Along the way, he kept on asking the motorist ‘weird’ questions.
The boda boda operator says Mudambi asked him if he owed him anything. He even requested him not to pick him the following Sunday. Apparently he was expecting to be at home with his family.
Some residents believe he might have gone to heaven a happy man as such incidences are very rare.
Chris Buluma, a church witness recalls his cheerful dances and presentable prayers on his last day.
“The service was quite okey, Mzee presided over the singing in church. Had wonderful preaching and prayed well before blessing the congregation. After offertory, he went to sit and that is how he went to be with the Lord,” Buluma said.
The pastor’s body was taken to Jumia morgue for preservation after which he will be buried in Mudungu village on 23rd January.
