Student Commits Suicide After Misusing School Fees

A 16 year old senior two student at Nyenga SS located in Njeru Central Division in Buikwe District has committed suicide after misusing school fees.

During the interview, some family members told Newslex Point that this student identified as Ssemugoma Mutalabani, 16, took his own life after misusing money which was supposed to pay for his school fees.

The body was found hanging in his bedroom at their home in Kiryowa Village on Sunday.

According to his brother Kabere Isa, Ssemugoma received a certain amount of money from our mum, but unfortunately he never reached school on that day. He came back home on Saturday, when I asked him where he had gone on Friday, he simply told me that he has been at the Casino.

Mum and Dad who had traveled to Iganga over the weekend for burial instructed me to punish Ssemugoma by caning him, which I did, he added.

However, on Sunday evening, Ssemugoma reportedly gave a warm send off to his friends as they were at the pitch busy playing football, saying he was going to kill himself, but his friends took it as a joke,’said Isa.

His friends thought he was just hurrying to go home to take some water since he was tired, but shockingly he entered his bedroom and hanged himself with a strong cloth,’he added.
