He says people should stop blaming the government for what is going on because in any case, it’s better than it was several years ago.
“The issue of Karamoja is not a recent phenomenon. The government established a number of specific affirmative actions, including ministries. We are not close to where Karamoja should be, but Karamoja, even in the current situation, is in a better place than it was 40, 30, or even 20 years ago.”
“There are persistent issues in Karamoja that can’t be attributed to the government alone. The long-term solution is long-term investment. There’s been continuous relief sent to Karamoja, but you don’t have to put cameras all the time,” he added.
However, most people were not up for this. They say if they shouldn’t blame the government for it then who should they blame.
“Does it go by air or road at least we would see it if the cameras shouldn’t be planted everywhere? And also we’re aware government always waits for opposition to organize relief then they confiscate and organise there own. Probably from what has over stayed in the stores. Mr persistent..,” a one Pato Pato said.
The region has been experiencing a food shortage that has led to many people losing their lives. Recently NUP president, Robert Kyagulanyi, on behalf his party sent food items saying the NRM party doesn’t care about them at all.
This is probably because the government is apparently dragging its feet when it comes to rendering help.
