Swangz Avenue singer Priscilla Zawedde alias Azawi has said that Africans/ Ugandans should stop moving out of Africa to look for money. This is because the wealth they search for is within the continent.
Taking to her X page, the Masavu singer said that Africans should prioritize traveling within Africa. This is because it’s very significant. There’s so much to discover as well as many opportunities to take advantage of.
Additionally, the singer said that the rich folk know this. This is why they never tell the ordinary citizens what’s good on the continent and how to make good use of it.
“Africans, we need to travel more within Africa than any other continent because it’s very insightful. There’s so much to discover and so many opportunities to take advantage of. The rich know that’s why they never tell you so. The money you’re looking for is in AFRICA!,” said the singer.
Well, it doesn’t take rocket science to know about the economic potential of the Blackman’s continent. However, trade among Africans is limited with very many barriers.
In fact, it is cheaper to trade with countries from other continents than it is with fellow neighboring countries in some instances. This is something that BBS TV journalist, Culton Scovia Nakamya pointed out to the singer.
She said that whereas the singer has a point, the blockades are so many. She pointed out how it is cheaper to travel to China than it is to Kenya. In some instances, an African has to travel to Europe before connecting to an African country of their destination.
“Spot on but it’s more expensive to travel within Africa than to other parts of the world. Flying to Kenya from Uganda costs more than flying to the Schengen area. Actually, in some African countries, you have to fly to Europe and then connect to Africa because we have few players in the business to offer direct flights.”
