Ministry of Health would like to inform the general public that Uganda has registered two deaths, bringing the total coronavirus deaths to 11.
The two fatalities are residents of Kampala Metropolitan area, 60 year old male of Indian origin who died at International Hospital Kampala (IHK) and 55 year old Ugandan male who lost his life whilst admitted in intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mulago National Referral Hospital. Both of them had signs and symptoms consistent with coronavirus. Results from the laboratories confirmed SARS-COV-2.

Meanwhile results of COVID-19 tests done on 12 August confirm 21 new cases. The cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans are 1,353. Eight are cargo truck drivers who arrived from Kenya via Malaba entry border point. Three are contacts to previously confirmed cases in Kampala Metropolitan area and one is a returnee from South Sudan. Coronavirus deaths so far stand at 11.
Regarding the nine alerts, five are from Kampala Metropolitan area whilst four are from Iganga, Kasese, Luwero and Masaka.
Twenty eight foreign truck drivers ( twenty four Kenyans, two Congolese, one Tanzanian and one Burundian ) tested positive for coronavirus at the entry border points and their entry into the country was not permitted.
