Museveni said that we must thank God that 50 years later, Uganda is now peaceful with freedom of worship as one of the liberties enjoyed minus restriction. He also applaud the Christians for leading the push to renovate the church, with us, the outsiders, only lending a hand.
Yesterday in Lira, I commissioned the refurbished Uganda Martyrs Cathedral of Lira Diocese. I congratulate the Christians of the diocese on this milestone, achieved as they mark their Golden Jubilee. pic.twitter.com/3BhMMNlBTP

Archbishop John Baptist Odama is leading a critical push among the people to create wealth through cassava growing for commercial purposes. The president thanked him and all the other clergy involved in these wealth creation drives. This is a true reflection of walking in Jesus footsteps.
To support these efforts, president Museveni promised to give the church here six tractors. The diocese can rent them out, plus other farming machinery, at an affordable cost to farmers.
He also promised to contribute Shs300 million towards construction of the bishop’s house. To the priests, he will donate 5,600 iron sheets while the women’s guild will get a vehicle.
About the bus promise, I will engage the Attorney General and also follow up with his office on the question of compensation for Barlonyo victims,’ he said.
Finally, I thank the organizers of this function for observing SoPs and ensuring social distancing. We must continue with this discipline if we are to defeat the Covid-19 pandemic. I thank you,’ he added.
