Joshua Baraka, one of Uganda’s currently top-grossing musician has claimed that the East African country is still backward musically. The singer took to his social media to express this opinion.
According to the Nana singer, the country needs better venues than the current ones. There is also the need for good state-of-the-art music studios.
According to the singer, there is more he could have said but he fears the hostile reactions. Some people will feel like they are the ones he’s attacking and blast him. Therefore, he’s decided to work hard and be the change that he wants to become.
“Uganda needs venues and better state-of-the-art music studios with serious equipment…. Tulimabega nyo… I have more to say naye people will feel attacked because I’ll be attacking them.… Let me keep praying and working for more opportunities/money so I can be the change I want,” he said.
Without a doubt, Uganda has lagged behind musically. At one time, the country used to be the best musically in East Africa. However, it’s now behind Tanzania, Kenya in releasing quality music.
For a long time, Ugandan musicians have been urged to release quality music. However, few invest in their careers.
Baraka, despite being a new kid on the block has proven that good music can take you places. He’s already worked with some of the finest artists on the continent such as Nigeria’s Qing Madi and Simi.
