Uganda has confirmed one covid-19 death today bringing the total coronavirus death to seven, according to the statement shared by Ministry of Health on it’s social media pages.
The deceased is a 49 year old Ugandan female, a resident of Wakiso who was an HIV positive patient and treatment. She also had a history of ashma and Tuberculosis (TB). All these are risk factors of coronavirus.
Results of COVID-19 tests done on 08 August 2020 confirm 16 new cases. The total cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans is 1,283.

She arrived at a private healthcare centre on 6th August 2020 in Wakiso with signs and symptoms consistent with covid-19, which include high fever, chest pain, difficulty in breathing, abdominal pain upon admission. The clinical attendants suspected covid-19 and informed Ministry of Health. Samples were taken off from her and sent to laboratories for analysis. Results from the analysis confirmed SARS-COV-2. Unfortunately, she died today morning at the private healthcare centre. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
The contact tracing and listing process has begun and 35 contacts have been listed so far.
Meanwhile, sixteen new positive cases were confirmed from samples tested on 8th August 2020, bringing the total cumulative cases of Ugandans to 1,283. Out of new confirmed cases, 10 are alerts, 2 are contacts to previously confirmed cases whilst four are cargo truck drivers.
