The ‘Amulimba‘ singer while appearing on NBS TV said that unlike back in the days when music wasn’t so paying, it’s quite the opposite now because corporate companies are now investing in the industry.
Viboyo, therefore, said it’s how the current crop of artists position themselves to land these opportunities.
“Unlike back in the days, we are living in the business times where corporate companies now recognize musicians and the arts industry. So, it’s about how you position yourself for the opportunities,” said Viboyo.
His fellow Swangz Avenue affiliate Benon Mugumya also acknowledged that the level of music production has quite gone high.
He recounted how one of his videos back in the day cost just 700,000 shillings. However, nowadays everything has to be paid for such as the video vixens unlike when back in the day it was an opportunity to appear in a music video.
“My music video ‘Mumulete’ cost us UGX 700,000. But that was back in the days; nowadays, even the people who feature in the music videos want to be paid,” Benon said.
Marvin Musoke a videographer from the label also advised musicians to shoot quality videos.
“An expensive music video is supposed to brand you as an artiste because we are in the business of impression. If you invest in impression, the better,” the videographer said.
However, with a few quality videographers who are also expensive, artists are yet to master the art of good videos.
