Why Is It Still Hard For African Girl Children To Inherit Property From Parents?

Up until now, many African fathers don’t trust their girl children to inherit family property. This has left many asking what the problem is. Why is it hard to trust them? The world has moved forward and right now gender imbalance is an embarrassment to whoever takes part in it. The girl child has also gone to school just like the boy child. Even courses that were not usually done by girls due to stigma are now embraced by girls.

Well, there are so many reasons that are given for not giving the girl child inheritance. Most parents say since she will marry, it would be hard for her to contain the property of her family. Most people even allege that girls end up giving this inheritance to their husbands. Obviously, we can’t completely say it doesn’t happen, but it is to a smaller extent.

However, if it’s on the question of capability, then that is surely a problem. We have many ladies running businesses and have performed exceptionally well, beyond a reasonable doubt. Ladies have properties that are functioning and developing by the day, so we can’t say they are lazy. If it’s a matter of trust, then that can be solved on paper, legal means can be borrowed.

On the other hand, we have seen men who have squandered property shamelessly. All in all, it’s risky to leave property to either but just a matter of trust. Girls should be given a chance. They have proven themselves too that they are capable. Let every child inherit an equal share and be equally involved.
