Woman Ordered To Return Dowry To Her Estranged Husband

Residents of Muhoni Village, Ganze Constituency Kenya were left in shock after a Ganze Location chief ordered a woman identified as Kitsao Sanita to return dowry of Ksh34,000 (Ugx1.1 million) to her estranged husband.

The woman’s family is accusing Chief Mweni Thaura of colluding with their brother-in-law to irritate their kin.

In February 2020, the mother of 6 went back to her parent’s home to take refuge after the husband threatened to kill her.

According to the woman, her husband claims that she’s practicing witchcraft and that she had made plans of killing him.

She decided to go back to her maternal home with 2 of their children leaving 4 under custody of her husband.

During her interview with Daily Nation, the victim’s brother identified as Jefwa Lemmy revealed that Ganze location chief called several meetings to settle the matter between their sister and her husband, but he always insists that she has to refund the dowry.

Lemmy doubted Chief’s motive in discussing the matter which includes threatening someone’s life without considering the safety of their sister who is already in danger to be killed by her husband.
