Women Take Front Sits In Ministerial Positions This Time Round

Women have taken front seats this time round in the ministerial positions. Looks like the president was intentional about bringing women to the front. This is what feminists have been praying for. If so, their prayers are now at least half answered. When you look the list critically, you will realize that women are dominating and not just that but in a very mighty way.

Hon. Jessica Alupo is the vice president, Hon. Robinah Nabbanja is the prime minister. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga is the 1st Deputy Prime minister and Minister of East African Community Affairs. 3rd Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio is Hon. Lukia Nakadama. The first lady too retained her seat as Minister of sports and education. These are just a few of the many.

Usually, the women have been given Ministerial positions but as deputies, this is not the case this time around. Most of the women are in the steering seat. This means we have taken a step as a country. The truth of the matter, most of the ladies on the list are capable leaders and very fruitful. The government has tried to pass the gender balance check now more than ever.

On the other hand, for some reason, prominent feminists have not yet come out to commend this. Is it that they haven’t seen it or they come out when things are bad? We can’t tell. Regardless of it all, this is still a very great achievement in the world of women. It’s not anything simple and therefore, it can’t be taken for granted in any way.
