It ran on the comparison of Radio and Weasel who were the bubbling-on-fire singers then.
Although Yiya Mozey and Ziza Bafana weren’t yet on that level, they were doing well. They released a couple of hit songs such as Tebakulimba, Namagalo among others.
Despite their promising and immense talent, they didn’t last long together. They quit the partnership and each of them pursued a solo career.
It’s fair to say that Bafana got the better outing as he went on to rule the airwaves. He has hit songs such as Gyayo Ntekeyo, Pomini, Friendly Match among others.
The same can’t be said about Yiya Mozey as his star quickly dwindled until now.
However, in a local TV interview, the singer said that the first reason the duo didn’t work out was lack of friendship. He wasn’t friends with the self-styled katonda wa ragga. They were just merged by management.
On top of that, Bafana had an insatiable greed for money. He always went and performed alone on shows they were scheduled to perform together. And he would pocket all the money.
Inquiries from Yiya earned him an expulsion from the label forcefully. Therefore he had to accept the loss and pick up the pieces onto the next one.
“The first problem was that me and Ziza Bafana weren’t friends. We were just brought together by management. Besides, he had a lot of greed. He always went and performed on shows we were advertised together alone. After I complained, I was kicked out of the label forcefully,” he said.
Furthermore, the singer said that he no longer sings in Uganda and his music is less known. It’s more popular abroad and he’s got a couple of songs doing well out there.
They include Oh Na Na and My Woman. Additionally, he advised Ugandans who are interested in his works to use their smartphones. Most of his works are online and that’s where they can access it.
