On Saturday, the world champion who is also the ambassador for Uganda Tourism Board brand flew to Ostrava. He also became quick to admit that he is looking forward to making yet another piece of history because he intends to set a record for this race.

‘’I have been preparing for the upcoming race and whereas the 3000 meters is not my speciality, I want to make history and show the world the might of the silverback. I was named silverback because of my strength and to this; I want to conquer the athletics world to become an icon,’’ Cheptegei said.

Earlier this year, Cheptegei lost the prestigious sportsman of the year gong at the Laureus Awards in Seville, Spain. LeBron James of the L.A. Lakers, Rafael Nadal a tennis legend, Lewis Hamilton the Formula One champion among other stars were Cheptegei’s competition.
