Dodta Uganda energy technology company is set to open sh 10 billion solar manufacturing company in Nakasongola district.
The factory slated for launch in June will manufacture face mask, Corona virus testing kits and solar lightening products Simon Sekidde company managing partner revealed in an exclusive interview.
Dodta Uganda last week donated 10,000 face masks worth shs75 million as part of Corona virus pandemic support intervention.
Sekidde said the donation is part of the company corporate social responsibility programme to address global Corona virus pandemic.
President Yoweri Museveni made public appeal to the private sector to support government on Corona virus pandemic control.
The contribution from the private sector according to the president will narrow the commodity gaps.
Charles Cai the firm’s managing director said the company will work with government to supplement solar power provision on rural areas.
“As private sector looking at doing business with government and promoting our products we shall be open for business offers where rural communities can access solar products at subsidized rates to increase access to clean energy, “Cai said.
According to statistics from ministry of energy less than 10 percent of Ugandans have access to power and majority can not afford solar products because of the prices.
