According to GA Insurance Chief Executive Officer Francis Kamau, the new package comes in to address the uncovered sector that has lagged behind in the insurance sector.
“At GA Insurance we concur with World Health Organisation strategy. Every person in every country should have the opportunity to live long and healthy life. We are here to talk about how to take care of our elderly through our first innovation dubbed GA Graysure a medical insurance product for the senior citizens,” Kamau said.
The package therefore cover includes nursing care, intensive care, diagnostic, laboratory or other required medical services. Additional expenses covered comprise of doctors bills, anesthetists bills, operating theatre fees and pharmacy.
According to Kamau the product is suitable for persons who are retiring. And are also able to plan for their medical needs in advance.
This also comes in line with GA Insurance limited two years anniversary in Uganda market.
GA Insurance is a fully owned subsidiary of GA Insurance Limited, an insurance Group with Head Offices in Nairobi Kenya.
The GA Brand has existed in East Africa in various forms over the past 80 years. The Group is very successful and is ranked 6th in the Kenya Market. Last year the GWP of the general insurance was US$ 78 Million. Therefore, GA brand is now truly East African having set foot in Uganda. They established the Tanzania operations six years ago.
Therefore, GA Uganda is the latest addition in the general insurance business segment of the industry. The entry of the brand into the market was by way of an acquisition. They completed the deal in October 2019 and hoisted the GA flag in the country on 1st November 2019.

Kamau however is concerned with the low penetration of medical insurance despite covid pandemic.

We have great experience in other markets of supporting the tourism and hospitality….” he said

Growth
GA has also grown in leaps and bounds applauding brokers whose business stands at 70%. Hon Gidudu Mafabi thanked GA Insurance management for thought innovation product that caters for the elderly. He added that this will supplement ministry of gender package to address’s elderly needs.
Ministry of gender is also running a programme scheme they give elderly citizens money monthly to support themselves out of poverty.
