In a bid to advance its research and programmes globally, Kampala International University ( KIU ) is set to launch its modern library tomorrow.
Prof. George Nasinyama KIU Deputy Vice Chancellor says the facility will provide its students with fast internet services to conduct research online in real time.
“The multi-million dollar library will boast students capacity to conduct superb research, enhance creativity, ideas, knowledge skills and above all a service unit dedicated to continuously improve through responsive and meaningful interactions with all members of KIU community, “George stressed.
George further says the Library provides access to library resources and many user based modern services like renewal of books, book purchase suggestions, creation of custom resource list, tagging, place holds, advanced search options etc.
The library has large selection of multidisciplinary eBook titles representing a broad range of academic subject matter, and is a strong complement for any academic collection. These EBooks are selected to assist students and scholars with various business research, special project and entrepreneurial needs, and to help students understand general business concepts.
KIU is the leading private chartered University
Kampala International University is a leading private chartered university in Uganda with a regional presence – campuses in Kenya and Tanzania. The university is rapidly transforming into a strong centre for research and innovation to ably respond to the critical development needs of the society which is in line with the University vision and mission.
The university boasts of one of the largest libraries in the region with a wide collection of library resources including e-books and e-journal. The library, therefore, provide access to global resources due to linkages and partnerships enabling inter-library access program. Access to online journals and books enables students and staff of KIU to keep abreast of research developments globally.
However Dr Mouhamad Mpezamihigo says the development is line with the university’s strategy and aspiration of leading in research agenda in Africa.
“Strategically, we aspire to grow our research and innovations portfolio that is locally relevant but globally competitive. This includes KIU strategic engagement with the communities to provide solutions as well as the alumni to support the university research enterprise, “he said.
He added that The University will continue to build advanced research infrastructure and research equipment to attract more collaborators across the globe for instance improving its bandwidth and Internet speeds.
KIU currently is a member of the Research and Education Network of Uganda (RENU) platform that provides steady and reliable internet connectivity.
The transformation of Kampala International University into a stronger research and innovations hub will contribute to social transformation and development in the community, nation, region, and internationally is unstoppable.
