Makerere University College Of Education To Unveil Bodaboda Curriculum

In a bid to address road accidents caused by bodaboda riders, Makerere University College of Education and external studies is set to unveil new curriculum for bodaboda riders in June.

the university is partnering with national curriculum development centre to develop the curriculum with work with Kampala City Council Authority and ministry of gender to implement and enforce its guidelines.

According to Deputy principal college of education Paul Muyinda bodaboda riders will study online while operating their daily errants  and get safety tips on business entrepreneurship and behavior change to improve transport business.

“we are working in partnership with national curriculum development centre to unveil new curriculum for bodaboda riders in Kampala to enhance behavior change on our roads.this will involve mobile learning ad use of Apps to manage road safety and accidents,”Muyinda explained.

He however estimates that road accidents will be reduced and business improved as most riders will be sensitized on traffic rules, safety tips and saving as entrepreneurship to improve their business operations.

Muyinda  noted that the university will use various multimedia platforms to sensitize the boda riders  to regulate the industry.

Currently the university is conducted research and survey to effect the programme.

This is part of the sh 30 billion that government extended to Makerere university for research,science and innovation programme for the next three years.
