Museveni Blames Katumba For His Attempted Assassination

President Museveni yesterday made his much-anticipated speech in which he declared a number of measures to fight the covid-19 pandemic. The President also took time off to address the security issue which has got people talking in whispers of late. Mr Museveni said that Gen Katumba was partly to blame for this shooting.

This followed the attempted assassination of Gen Katumba Wamala last week which claimed the lives of his daughter and driver.

President Museveni said that whereas he sympathised with the outgoing minister of works and transport, he had made a mistake in his schedule of movements.

“Gen Katumba had also made mistakes, he was moving without a follow car yet he is supposed to have it. If he had moved with it, it wouldn’t have been easy for him to get attacked.” President Kaguta Museveni said.

The President added that during Katumba’s tenure as CDF, he had always moved with a patrol car behind him. Museveni added that it was because of Katumba’s bodyguard that he managed to make it out alive. It was the bodyguard’s gunshots that managed to scare away the assailants before they finished the general off too.

Mr Museveni also went ahead to warn media outlets that have created fear amongst people. He said that newspapers such as Daily Monitor which he branded ‘bad’ said it had created a state of fear among people that security is very bad.

“There is this bad newspaper called Monitor. One of these days when I have time I will answer them because I kept one of their newspapers. They have created panic among people which is not even there. Those criminals who commit these crimes will be punished no matter how long because I have their files.” The president said.

He promised to fight these crimes in a rebel style and even brought out the famous Masaka nurse who was once a victim of such murders.

The nurse who now works with the UPDF assured people that as long as the President was in control, everything would soon be fine.
