Yoweri Kaguta Museveni
President of Uganda— Yoweri K Museveni (@KagutaMuseveni) July 15, 2021
The president named Betty Kamya the new Inspector General of Government, replacing Lydia Mugambe.
However, this followed Ms Betty Kamya’s loss in the parliamentary elections in Lubaga North to NUP’s Abubaker Kawalya.
Museveni also subsequently dropped her from cabinet as Minister of Kampala. Betty Kamya will therefore be deputised by Ann Muhairwe.
The President announced these appointments on his official Twitter page.
“By the Powers given to me under Article 223(4) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, I hereby, appoint:
1. Inspector General of Government – Beti Namisango Kamya
2. Deputy Inspector of Government – Anne Muhairwe
Yoweri Kaguta Museveni President of Uganda.” The President tweeted.
Mr Museveni also appointed renowned MUBS economics lecturer Ramathan Ggobi as the new permanent secretary to the Ministry of Finance.
Ggobi replaced Keith Muhakanizi whom the president transferred to the Office of the Prime Minister.
Expectations in Ggobi to see his policies are high after he criticized the state for what he termed awful decisions on the economy especially dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
In other appointments, the president also retained Dr Diana Atwine as the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Health.
Ms Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye was named the Head of Public Service and Secretary of Cabinet. Museveni also appointed Ms Jane Barekye as the State House Comptroller.
