This information came after the stepping down of Latif Ssebagala from the race and yet he was already declared the flag bearer for the party.
The letter stated that the deadline for handing over forms is this Friday, 25th September 2020 for interested candidates. Though Latif clearly said that he stepped down in good faith, it’s still really not that good of a reason to just let go.
The party spokesperson, Joel Senyonyi didn’t also say much about Latif’s stepping down when he finally talked.
Undoubtedly though, this is a very huge set back for the party given the progress of other parties. Of course, we can’t blame them much. Its been just a little while for them in the political arena.
This however shouldn’t be an excuse for such things to happen in the party because they push away some supporters in one way or the other.
There is not much to anticipate who is going to go through the primaries. We, however, are anxiously waiting for who the party will choose. One thing is for sure though, they have a lot of work to do.
Otherwise, replacing Latif Ssebagala is going to be hard. He already has his name in the public. His opponent, Joseph Mayanja who we would be anticipating decided to stand as an independent for the Kampala Lord Mayoral seat.
