Public Health Director for Kisii County Dr Onkware Richard said Ms Adumbo from Rachuonyo Sub-county passed on at 4pm after nearly a fortnight of battling the illness.
The deceased contracted the deadly virus at eight months of pregnancy and she had a normal birth.
She tested positive on 20th July and gave birth on 24th July 2020 at Kisii Teaching & Referral Hospital, but her samples including that of 29th July had tested negative twice.
Unfortunately, she has passed on. One of her lungs collapsed doe to coronavirus complications, ‘said Dr Richard.
The nurse’s baby tested negative for covid-19, but they decided to place the baby in the nursery for close observation.
The deceased’s husband as well as her other close contacts were self-quarantined.
The nurse had earlier complained that she was neglected by ICU staff who never wanted to attend to her since she tested positive for the deadly virus.
