Since they pre-record all programs before airing, the guest can request them to edit some parts out.
Whatever the station broadcasts, the person in question has to agree.
However this wasn’t the case with the TV station after it aired what Dr Besigye had asked them to edit out.
The former FDC president started by thanking them for hosting him despite being a critic of the government they work under.
He said that the last person who had taken a risk of hosting him on the station, Counsel Gawaya Tegule had lost his job 20 years ago.
“I appreciate the great risk taken by UBC in getting & airing an interview with me.
UBC promised not to edit my responses. I asked them not to air the program at all if they felt unable to air some of its parts- I would understand.
I am disappointed by what has been aired.” Besigye posted on his Twitter page.
Social media users were quick to jump into the mix with some advising him to sue the station. Others comforted him that nobody watches the station.
“I watched UBC for the 1st time in many years but did just watch it today because of you. Anyways, don’t let this disappoint you, your appearance is a big milestone.” Another said.
“I got done with UBC in 2016 when I was listening to UBC West on the day of voting. A presenter was telling people to wake up and go to vote M7 aka campaigning for sevo. I just knew these people don’t work for Uganda but the “Dictator.” Another follower went.
Besigye has been very vocal in the fight against COVID 19 and it seems that UBC thought he could have something to say to the country hence the invitation.
