He then hid her in a secret place and demanded a Kshs2 million (approximately over Ugx70,000,000) ransom on her head.
The class six girl was heading back home after school, but the evangelist persuaded her into his car promising to drive her home. He eventually turned into a beast and drove her to unknown place about 300 kilometres from their home.
The parents returned home that evening but did not find their daughter. They quickly realized something was wrong.
Their efforts to track down their lovely daughter’s whereabouts from either the school or their relatives proved worthless.
The teary parents reported the matter to police and went ahead to launch a manhunt for their lovely daughter.
However, the girl’s parents received a strange phone call from an unknown person that evening at around 10 pm.
“I want you to bring me Ksh2 million so that I can release your daughter, or else I will deliver her cold body to you; the call then disconnected,” said the father, Fidelis Ngure. He added:
“Terrified and in state of shock, we rushed back to the police and handed over the Airtel number to security personnel to trace the whereabouts of the caller.”
The police eventually questioned him and confessed having kidnapped his neighbor’s daughter. The pastor was demanding ransom because life had become unbearable on his side as a result of the deadly corona virus resulting in worshipers fleeing his church.
“My daughter was rescued even though in a terrified state, we took her to a counselor who advised her, and she is now recuperating well from that incident,” said Ngure.
The criminal was apprehended and arraigned in court for committing such a heinous act.
