These new changes have seen Lt Gen Charles Lutaaya appointed senior presidential advisor on issues of Air Forces. Further, Charles Okidi was promoted from the rank of Major General to Lieutenant General.
Subsequently, this also saw him named Commander of the Air Forces. Lt Col Stephen Kiggundu was also promoted to the rank of Brig General and this saw him assume the role of Deputy Commander of the Land Forces.
“H.E the President & Commander in Chief of the UPDF has made Changes in UPDF – Air Forces as Follows;
Lt Gen Charles Lutaaya appointed senior presidential advisor on matters of Air Forces, Maj Gen Charles Okidi promoted to Lt Gen appointed Commander Air Forces, while Lt Col Stephen Kiggundu promoted to Brig Gen & appointed Deputy Commander Air Forces. Congrats to the Gen officers,” the official communication read.
This comes at a time when President Museveni revealed that the Ugandan Airforces had attacked a big camp of the ADF in Congo and destroyed it.
This came with the permission of the DR Congo government.
Museveni further said that with more permission from the Congolese counterparts, the UPDF will pursue these terrorists further.
He also added that this move only shows that Africa has the capability to deal with such chronic security problems.
