Retired pilot Capt. Francis Babu has said that Uganda is an ideal location for anyone who dreams of starting an airline. He said that when one is starting an airline, location is a crucial area, and the East African nation is a gift to anyone with such an ambition.

Additionally, he also gave tips on how to successfully run an airline. He likened it to an army saying that discipline must be high.
Besides, expenditures must be controlled and therefore an excellent financial director is needed. The former Kampala MP aspirant said that running an airline business is one of the most sensitive businesses. It’s very delicate to manage and requires sharp management.
“An airline is like an army; discipline must be high, and expenditures must be controlled. So you need an excellent financial director. There is a problem with understanding how to manage an airline. An airline is one of the most sensitive organizations, requiring sharp management, and it’s a very expensive venture.”
Furthermore, the Metro FM proprietor also said that an airline needs excellent marketing. If one can’t market their airline excellently, they are wasting time starting one.
Meanwhile, he said that piloting was always a dream of his just like many other kids out there. However, he didn’t think he would pursue it since he was more focused on engineering.
In his piloting career, Babu said that it wasn’t always easy. He experienced some uneasy situations such as tyres not coming out and bad weather.
