We Are In Political Parties For The Sake Of Constitution – Mubarak Munyagwa

Former Kawempe South MP, Hon Mubarak Munyagwa, has revealed that as opposition politicians, they are in their respective political parties because the Constitution stipulates so.

Otherwise, if it wasn’t for this, they wouldn’t be in them. This is because the NRM has monopolized Ugandan politics. It has never allowed political parties to go ahead and operate democratically.

Munyagwa also addressed the recent friendship between FDC and NUP. NUP president Bobi Wine and FDC’s former president Dr Col Kiiza Besigye have been so ‘tight’ lately.

They move together on several occasions and analysts have interpreted this as a coalition.

Many were wondering on which basis it is formed but Munyagwa said the basis is not necessary. This is because poverty and other hard conditions have united them.

“We are in the political parties because that’s what the Constitution stipulates, but the NRM government has never allowed political parties to operate in the country.”

“We don’t need to be friends to come together to protest the oppressor. The poverty we have already brought us together,” said Mubarak Munyagwa.

Munyagwa also added that if the opposition genuinely worked together, they would topple the NRM government in 2 years.

Furthermore, the self-styled ‘Mugati Gwa Bata’ prophecied a political Armageddon in this year. It’s the year they are going to uproot the NRM from power according to him.

“We are going to have a political armageddon in the year 2023. It’s the year we are going to fight to defeat the oppressor.”

He concluded by saying that luckily for the opposition, political ‘Maguires’ have been exiting their camp.

He pointed out DP president Nobert Mao who he said used to score in his own net once introduced onto the pitch.
