The ‘Wale Wale’ Hit maker who was recently dropped by National Unity Platform was nominated on Wednesday to stand as an independent candidate inclining towards the People Power Movement group.
Chameleone however said he is going to embarrass all those who are doubtful about his potential.
The vetting saga;
Talking to the journalists, he indirectly criticized NUP’s vetting committee and vowed to teach them a lesson through a ballot paper.
He went ahead and wrote a brave statement on his timeline saying,’ Let’s see who wins the final vote’.
The vetting committee for the opposition party NUP recently dumped Chameleone and picked Latif Ssebaggala for Kampala’s Lord Mayoral seat. The committee found Ssebaggala more suitable for the race than singer Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone.
They vetted the two a week earlier to contest for Kampala’s highest position that is currently occupied by Erias Lukwago. Lukwago previously presided under the Democratic Party umbrella but recently crossed to the Forum for Democratic Change.
National Unity Platform denied any claims that Joseph Mayanja wasn’t considered because of his religion. These rumors came about after NUP decided to go with Latif Ssebagala as their flag bearer. A NUP assessment form mde rounds on media last week. The vetting committee allegedly used it to vet party representatives in the 2021 elections.
The singer insisted he wants to run as Lord Mayor of Kampala. He even advised Bobi Wine to be cautious of the people around him because they may cause his downfall.
