Mc Donald’s To Close Up In US Temporarily, Issues Layoff Notices

Mc Donald’s is temporarily going to close off its offices earlier this week in the US and its reported that a number of its employees will be laid off as Wall Street journal reported.

However this move is part of a broader company restructuring plan for the Burger King amidst concerns of a slowing economy.

In an internal memo to its employees in the US and International staff last week tasked its employees to work from home from Monday to Wednesday so that it can inform them virtually about the company’s lay off plans.

More than 150,000 people are employed globally with MC Donald’s with 70%of them located outside of the US.

Earlier in January, MC Donald’s had indicated that it may take crucial decisions about changes to its corporate staffing levels by April this year as part of broader strategic plan for the burger chain.

Chris Kempczinski the chief executive told Wall Street journal that the company wanted to move forward with its retrenchment policy as they were expected to save some money but didn’t have a set of dollar amount or the number of people he was planing to lay off.

“Some jobs that are existing today are either going to move or those jobs may go away.” Kempczinski told reporters.

However it hasn’t been commented about how many employees would be laid off over the course of the week.
