“I accept the appointment to serve as new Board Chairman of Uganda Free Zones Authority. I pledge to carry on the mission and vision and ensure that Free Zones Authority achieves its mandate, ” Peter Balimunsi said.
” I commit to work with management to ensure that we deliver with all my enthusiasm to promote good image to attract investors. I will also strengthen partnerships, improve skills development and initiate rewards for good works of staff during my term of office, “he added.
Evelyn Anite Minister of State for Privatization and Investment in a dinner organised to honor outgoing and incoming members of the Board cautioned new Board members to uphold good deeds and consolidate the gains the former Board and management achieved.
“Uganda aspires to become a transformed society from a peasant to a modern country within 30 years. The strategies to realize this aspiration include acceleration of industrialization through upgrading and diversification to harness the local resources, developing manufacturing and processing clusters along the value chains and direct government investment in strategic areas to stimulate the economy. I hope in your endeavors you will continue to contribute to the established success and legacy, “Anite said.
Anite thanked out going board for the construction of first free zones in Uganda at Entebbe International Airport and setting up other 24 private free zones.
