Kulembera passed on 20 minutes before the plane landed at Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday, 17th May 2022.
Ugandan Observers reports that, a post-mortem showed Kulembera succumbed to a blood clot that he suffered during the flight.
Jjingo Ahmed, the deceased’s son who was very excited to see his father for the first time in a period of three years said he was informed about his father’s death by one of the passengers whilst he was having lunch.
“I left immediately for the airport. When I reached the airport, I found my father’s body lying on a stretcher at the back of an ambulance. I boarded the ambulance and we went to the City mortuary in Mulago,” he said.
Jjingo could not hide his pain as he explained how he had missed his dad since he last saw him in 2019.
“I had hoped to find him home on Tuesday but this didn’t happen. It’s unfortunate that I even don’t know how many children my father has left,” he said.
The Ugandan man had initially informed his family that he will travel home to see them in 2020 but he later cancelled the journey due to coronavirus restrictions.
