How Lucy Became Ambitiously Dangerous At 19

Lucy had totally transformed, from the once very innocent girl that everyone took advantage of to an ambitiously dangerous 19 year old. She cared less about anything else, except making sure her tormentors slept sorrowful and scared of what she could possibly do next.

Ssebulime upon learning of Lucy’s demands thought she was still the same naive girl he used to rape a few years ago and that just a threat would scare her off. He called and threatened to kill her if she made the mistake of reporting him to the police, she laughed at him as he made his threats and even assured him of other accompanying consequences if he didn’t pay up the 5 million she was demanding.

Ssebulime got tensed up, where was he going to get the money from, he barely had a million shillings in his savings. Lucy was very seriously with her threats and he needed to do something about it.

“Hi, I have got the money you want, can we meet this evening at the usual place.” He lied on the phone.
“Listen uncle, I am no fool and the earlier you start realizing that, the better your chances of surviving jail.” She replied.

Very clever girl she was, Ssebulime was trying to lure her into a hotel room, choke her to death and then put a suicide note next to her body as cover up. His plan didn’t work as he thought, he had to think of another alternative.

Lucy on the other hand had not even started with Madam Nantongo yet, she first wanted to make money from the hynas Nantongo was housing in her home as husband and brother. After that she would then embark on Madam Nantongo herself who already appeared too stressed from the fact that she had tested positive for the HIV virus.

Nantongo’s family was on tension; her husband was never home since she was blaming him for bringing HIV into the family, her brother(Ssebulime) had also apparently not been sleeping home out of guilt of what was revealed, the children were not getting the parental attention they needed and somehow had stopped talking, a clear sign that they were obviously depressed.

Her mental state seemed unbalanced, she started picking fights with random clients at her shop; “if you don’t like what I am giving you, then get the hell out of my shop.” She had blown up severally against many of her customers, calling others fat elephants who can’t fit into anything nice. She had abused many of her clients and over just a short period of time, her old customers had almost all left. It got worse with her neighboring shop attendants who had similar items, whenever a client left her shop, they would go into the neighbor’s shop and this always resulted in serious verbal insults from madam Nantongo.

She had clearly lost her mind, on discovering that she was HIV positive, she refused to enrol for treatment at an HIV healthcare center. This stress that came with the knowledge of her positive status soon started taking a negative toll on her health, she started losing weight drastically.

Meanwhile two weeks later, Ssebulime had not yet gotten the money Lucy was demanding that he pay. He had been given 24 days and so far 21 had gotten done. Desperate and scared of going to jail, he decided to steal the money from his work place, a car bond. He sat in his office desk thinking of how he would execute the mission without being discovered. The result of being discovered would most probably be jail and even getting fired from his job. Saving himself from a jail situation by engaging in another jail-bringing activity would not be a great idea.

“I will beg my sister, she will not let her little brother go to jail.” He concluded.

At his sister’s place, he decided to lie that some money went missing from his office and now the management had put that blame on him.

“They want me to pay that money and if I don’t, then I should forget about having a job with them. Please my sister, help me. I swear I will pay you in installments within three months.”

“How come it’s only you being blamed for it, please don’t tell me you stole that money.”
“I swear upon our late parents, I didn’t steal that money, it’s a setup. Someone wants my position and is trying to use this situation to gain an upper hand, please!”

After lieing to his sister, he was given five million shillings to which he called Lucy and said he had only three. He was trying to keep the balance for himself so he could use it to start fending for his life outside his sister’s home.
“It’s either what I asked for or jail, choose which one is good for you.”

A wild and crude sexual desire that started off as rape in a small maid’s room years ago had turned into an expensive nightmare. Lucy was not Willing to adjust, she needed the money in full and any attempt at trying to explain a shortage would make her cut the call.

Ssebulime left with no choice, picked the money from his sister and took a boda boda down to Kireka central, stopping at Shell filling station, a bag in his hand. Lucy was stationed inside a bar across the street and could see exactly where he was standing and what he was holding. She didn’t want to meet him directly, instead she decided to send a boda boda friend of hers to go and grab the bag and make off with it. It would be the sweetest way of serving him double shock.

Ssebulime behaving unsettled kept on looking around while talking to Lucy on phone, she had told him she was around but he had been waiting for ten minutes already and she was not showing her face.

As he kept on turning around trying to see where Lucy could possibly be coming from, a speeding biker suddenly grabbed the bag from his hand and sped off towards Namugongo road, he screamed while trying to run in pursuit but in vain.

With both his hands atop his head, teary eyes and a broken spirit, a phone call came through on his phone, it was Lucy.

“It was nice doing business with you uncle, see you next time.”
